BlackHatMedia announces the availability of Broadlink, South Africa's first SMS directory system
Broadlink is a SMS directory system developed and patented by BlackHatMedia. Using Broadlink directory information can be made available to anyone with a cell phone.
Broadlink allows any company with a paper or internet directory to make their directory avaiable to any user with a cell phone. Broadlink works with a simple SMS which means that it can be used from any make and model of phone. You send an SMS with keywords describing what you want and you get back an automatic SMS with a list of matches.
To provide a working example of Broadlink BlackHatMedia has set up a business directory service called Hotlink. You send a SMS to Hotlink with keywords describing the business, product or service you are looking for and Hotlink replies with a list of matching business together with their telephone numbers. You can then dial the numbers directly from the reply or save them for future use.
For example if you want an Italian restaurant in Sandton you send italian restuarant in sandton or ital rest in sand to Hotlink. You can also search for plumbers, hairdressers, hotels, clothing shops, shopping centes and many others. To find a company by its name simply put the name in a SMS and send it to Hotlink. For example boating international in edenvale or just boat inter and nandos in central cape town.
BlackHatMedia has registered a provisional patent for Broadlink [SA Pat App 2003/4028] and intends to market the service in South Africa and other countries in Africa where cell phone penetration is high.
